Concept Development, R&D, Production.
Created as a one-off piece, this two meter long wooden console was designed to sit at the head in the dining room of a wealthy Mumbai business-family.
A simple cuboid geometry, gave the form a robust and solid identity while the two solid teak wood legs were subtly recessed to make the over all effect one of contrasting lightness and heaviness. The four leaf doors themselves worked as a sliding folding.
The frame and members were crafted in Burma Teak while the doors, side and top panels were made in Central Province Teak to be eventually coated with a metallic spray paint and hand blackened with an oxidant.

Working closely with our craftsmen, carpenters and cabinet makers, we were able to refine and fine tune the design and understand just how far we could push the materials, textures and finishes to achieve the desired results. Details, joineries and fixtures were all tested and executed on the fly at their workshop located at Alibaug at the outskirts of the city.
